Obituary

In Loving Memory of Shawn Lee Hamilton
December 20, 1981 – October 24, 2026

Shawn Lee Hamilton, age 44, of Van Buren Township, Michigan, made his transition on October 24, 2026, at his home.

Born on December 20, 1981, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Shawn was the son of Marilyn Hamilton and Walter Robinson. He was a longtime resident of Ann Arbor and also spent several years living in Ypsilanti before purchasing his home in Van Buren Township.

Shawn was a dedicated employee of the University of Michigan, where he spent many years working and building lasting relationships with those around him.

An avid sports enthusiast, Shawn was a devoted lifelong fan of the University of Michigan Wolverines and the Detroit Lions. He loved sharing his passion for sports with family and friends, creating memories and enjoying the excitement of cheering on his favorite teams together.

Above all, Shawn treasured the time he spent with those he loved. Thanksgiving held a particularly special place in his heart as his favorite holiday, bringing together everything he cherished most—family, good food, laughter, and the joy of simply being together.

Shawn leaves to cherish his memory his beloved older brother, Demonte C. Hamilton (Kelly); his uncles, Vic Hamilton (Myra), Albert Hamilton (Falencia), and Marshall Hamilton; his uncle Donald and aunt Gwendalyn Hamilton and their children, with whom he shared an especially close and cherished bond; along with a host of loving cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Among Shawn's most treasured friendships was the special bond he shared with Frankie Moore, Anthony Phillips, and James Mitchell. Together, the four were affectionately known as "The 4 Horsemen," a brotherhood built on love, loyalty, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Shawn also shared meaningful and lasting friendships with Will Malcolm and Robert Owens, who held a special place in his heart.

Shawn was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn Hamilton; his father, Walter Robinson; his grandparents, John and Doishe Hamilton; his uncle, Bruce Hamilton; his sister, Crystal M. Hamilton, who was stillborn; and his cousin, Samuel Cooper.

Shawn will be remembered for the love he shared, the friendships he cherished, and the special place he held in the hearts of those who knew him. His memory will forever live on through his family and friends.

Forever in our hearts, your love and light will never fade.
