Betsy Lynn (Myers) Maxwell, 80, of Ypsilanti, Michigan passed away July 2, 2024.

Betsy was born May 15, 1944, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Earl Harry and Betty Myers. She married Robert Maxwell on April 28,1967. She is survived by her husband; her brother Eric (Linda) Myers; three of her husband's brothers and sisters; and many loving nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Linda Myers, her beloved son Scott Maxwell, and her husband's two older brothers.

The family has selected immediate cremation. A gathering to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 2 to 4 pm at the family lake house in the Irish Hills.

Betsy grew up in Edgewood, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Pittsburgh. She graduated from Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania majoring in English and Elementary Education. She earned her master's degree in education from Eastern Michigan University. She taught 5th grade in Pennsylvania, California, and Michigan. She worked and retired from the Ann Arbor Schools Recreation Department as the Cultural Arts Specialist. Upon retirement, she became a volunteer at Greenfield Village which led to a permanent position as a presenter which essentially became her second career. She worked in multiple buildings with some involving period clothing. Her most favorite role was the first-person role of Ms. Narden in the one room schoolhouse.

Betsy delighted in creating books of her yearly adventures. Each year would involve a theme of the year which started on the day of her birthday. The number of events would correspond with the birthday year. For example, her 60th year was visiting 60 historic sites. Starting with her 80th birthday, she initiated the pursuit of 80 delights. She would strive to include as many of her family and friends as possible in the description of her adventures.

Betsy was the centerpiece of the family, taking the time to be in contact with everyone, providing support, love, an ear, or anything needed. She was loved and adored by her family members.

Betsy had close-knit circles of friends with which she kept in close contact including her Allegheny College friends, her Tuesday lunch friends, her Greenfield Village friends, her recreation department friends, and her lake cottage friends. Betsy was loved by so many.
