The word of Chris’ passing took our breath away. We just couldn’t understand how her health had deteriorated so quickly. We understand that we can’t fully appreciate your loss but we do know that you have lost a precious daughter, mother and family member who made us all happy when she was present.

Everyone who met Chris was always delighted by her warm, easygoing nature. Her caring and joyous spirit was always apparent at OptiMetrics' holiday parties. She personally met with all the attendees and engaged in numerous conversations throughout the evening.

Last January, I was at my wit's end, trying to get my business travel set up with our secretary out of town. Chris stepped in and helped me change my itinerary 3 times while the Air Force figured out what they wanted me to do. She was cheerful and supportive even when I had started to give up.

To Marie's grandchildren and great-grandchildren,

My sincerest sympathy to you all during the loss of your wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

I worked with Marie at the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Hospital years ago. I've thought of her often through the years and the beautiful smile she always had for all that she was with. At work and on occasions when our CAPH group met outside of work, we would share family updates and pictures. The highlight at work for Marie was when her grandchildren, Kim and little Derrick , would come in to see her. I remember the times when little Derrick's daddy would bring him in to see her. She would say, "Give me a little sugar" and then he could sit on her lap and type on the machine. I and the CAPH girls enjoyed our occasional night out dining and conversing for hours in the restaurant and another hour out in the parking lot at LaPinata in Ann Arbor - never enough time with each other it seemed. She had a wealth of knowledge of singing groups and their songs and had numerous other stories that she shared usually bringing tears of laughter to our group.

Marie was a joy to us and her presence will be truly missed.

Remember all the special times with her through the years as those will be the memories to cherish forever.

A couple of the things I will miss about Kay is her bubbly personality. No matter where I ran into her at I got a "HEY GIRLLLLL" and a beaming smile. No matter how bad a day it was, she never complained. A favorite memory, Halloween. She'd let me come over and pick out a costume and try it on. One year it was ET and Butch was sitting on the front porch dressed up as a scarecrow, Kay convinced me he was a fake and just as soon as my foot hit the porch, Gary was inside cracking up. Butch grabbed me and I screamed something fierce. Afterwards we all had a good laugh about it and to this day it puts a smile on my face. Kay will be missed but I do know she's in a better place! Kay was the primary caregiver for both our children, Joe and Grace at the Pete Pestillo Daycare. As new parents, we often asked for her advice and she would provide us reassuring examples from her child care or personal experience, which allows us valuable input to formulate our own conclusions and parenting style. We cherished her and her advice lives on!

Even after our children "graduated" from her infant room, Kay would make a point of stopping by our kids' toddler room and wave to her "alumni". My Joe would literally light up when he would see her face and hear her voice. The kids loved her so much!

Kay shared so many great stories about her family---and yes, she bragged like a proud mother and wife would!

I had the chance and privledge of working with Kay for a year and a half in the infant room. She was such an amazing women that spoke so highly of her family and had an unconditional love for children. She always had a smile on her face that could brighten up any day. In addition, she was always there to give advice and comfort to me about my father's illness, later to find out she would be fighting the same battle.

My heartfelt condolences to Bonita's family. Two of my sons spent their 5th Grade at Logan as one of Mrs. Boyce's "kids". She had the ability to draw out the best in every child and both my sons always talk about how she made learning fun and exciting. She was not only an outstanding teacher in academics but she taught to wht whole child - recognizing where they were developmentally and encouraging them to grow. When I think of Logan, I always think of Bonita. Now I will keep her in my heart.

I had the pleasure of knowing Mrs. Boyce since kindergarten. She told me "You're going to be in my class one day!" And I was lucky enough to have her for both 3rd and 5th grade. She also taught my son, sister's, my cousin's and my uncle. I will always remember her for being the one who is responsible for me knowing my multiplication to this day! And also for her many Dance/Musical productions. I was never more proud then when I was a "Fame" dancer. She was wonderful and will be missed. "What is This?" (All of you Logan folks will remember that). Now she knows as she sits with God and the Angels.

To the family of Bonita-
May the Lord comfort and keep you. There is not enough room in this forum to tell all, but suffice to say that Ann Arbor school district and Washtenaw county has suffered a major "loss".
My friend of 33 years raised the bar for educators. She taught by example and always gave (over) 200%. It was not unusual to see Bonita arrive at school extremely early (before school) and staying after 5-00 on a DAILY basis. Not only did she teach students but parents as well.
Many times, Ms. Boyce supplied lunches to children that did not have a proper lunch. She paid for students bus passes or drove them home.
During her LUNCH hour she taught and assisted students that were having difficulty or challenged and supported parents.
She was extremely talented in many areas including musicals. In 1978, she directed and produced "The Wiz". At the end of the musical, SHE purchased trophies for the entire cast and presented them. One never knew what Ms. Boyce's next idea would be, but we knew it would be excellent.

As adults, many students (including mine) would seek advice and wise counsel.
She will truly be missed but not forgotten.
